The Heart of Mindfulness Meditation
Please call 651-653-1660 for class dates and times. In a world of anxiety about tomorrow and often regrets about yesterday, we need the skill to dwell in the only reality there is: life in the present moment, or the "Now" as it is popularly called.
Please join us for an 8-week course in the ancient practices of meditation and mindfulness, led by storyteller, author and meditation teacher Bill Alexander. Over the span of these weeks we will learn the basics of silent seated meditation (Zazen) and the ancient practice of mindfulness.
Mindfulness Meditation is a simple practice. In essence, the entire practice is summed up like this: "breathing in, I know I am breathing in." That's it. It takes a moment to learn and cannot be mastered in a lifetime.
We will sit in meditation and we will have specific mindfulness practices, new each week. This is not a static course. Each week we will expand the teachings of the previous week. The final week will be "an evening of mindfulness" where we will join in a silent potluck supper, followed by a gentle discussion of what we have gained and, more importantly, what we have let go over the course of the 8 weeks.
As an added benefit, in the very first session, we will learn the innovative and revolutionary "Big Mind" process, created by Zen Master Dennis Genpo Merzel, who authorized Bill Alexander to teach it.
